Waste Management

In order to address our waste reduction objectives, we are involved in several Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) initiatives aimed at reducing construction waste. We are signatories to the ‘Halving waste to landfill’ initiative by 2012.

We are committed to reducing both the amount of construction waste we produce, and the percentage of construction waste going to landfill, by 20% per year over three years. We have adopted the BRE’s SMARTWaste tool that requires projects to identify waste streams, forecast the quantity of waste arising and evaluate options to reduce, reuse or recycle the waste.

We are playing a proactive role in reducing our carbon footprint and have several initiatives running throughout our businesses aimed at encouraging our workforce and supply chains to make changes aimed at saving energy, reducing pollution and selecting more sustainable products. Our current focus on lighting and power, heating and cooling and travel and transport is aimed at delivering cost and energy savings both at home and in the workplace.
